“I am transferring to Drexel University. Delaware County has helped me a lot in preparing to transfer. Not only does it have a group of great and friendly staff members who will help you every step of the way during your education and during the transfer process, but also the various clubs and activities on campus will prepare you for the campus life that awaits you in a bigger university. I am receiving about 50% off of the total tuition at Drexel as a result of the Dean’s and Phi Theta Kappa scholarships, and all of my credits transferred successfully.”

“Delaware County Community College was really good for me. One of the best things about it is that I had a lot of chances to talk to my advisors and professors directly. It was easy to ask them questions contact them. George Washington University is a really, really big school. I thought I could meet a lot of people, but it is harder here than at Delaware County.”

“The key piece of advice I can give to students is to network, network, and network. The college experience provides many new relationships – both academic and social – so you should take the time to stay in touch. These relationships can lead to many new opportunities.”

“Getting to know other international students and learning from great faculty and staff made me feel well-prepared to transfer to Drexel University. I was awarded a Dean’s Scholarship and my credits transferred easily towards my bachelor’s degree. Today, I work as a financial analyst for one of the largest U.S. banks – JP Morgan Chase & Co.”

“There are a lot of good things I can say about DCCC, but I would say the International Student Office was always happy to help students. The Career and Counseling Center helped me out to find a way I should go. Delaware County is the right place to study, make friends, have fun, and prepare for next stage.”

“Before starting the first semester, I was worried about the language barrier. But my worry disappeared because all my professors were concerned with my problem and taught me with examples that I could understand. They also gave me more personal attention. I knew the information, but I was worried that I couldn’t express it. The professors were patient, they listened, and they gave me time to express that knowledge. If you work hard, the professor will know that you are working hard. They will try to take better care of you. Our school can help you to achieve your dreams.”

“I have been playing tennis since I was six. CF gave me the opportunity to get a good education while at the same time play a sport that I love. Here at CF we have a good team, good relationships and we get along. The professors and coaches also helped me a lot in making decisions about my future and the academic advisors made sure that I was on the right path for graduation and transfer. It has been important for me to not only do well in classes but also get involved in other activities at the college. I enjoyed the many opportunities I had to participate in events. Visiting with a performer from the Czech Republic who came to CF to perform with Singers of United Lands was especially a nice treat. CF became my home away from my home country!”

“I choose CF because I wanted the opportunity to go to a school were I would not be around too many students from Hong Kong so that I could have more chances to talk in English. I met some very knowledgeable professors who were passionate about the subjects they were teaching and really cared about their students. The counselors and advisors made sure that I took the correct classes in order to attend the University of Florida. Getting involved on campus activities is important. There are always things that allow you to get involved.

It is just whether you are willing to take the first step. Make sure you take advantage of the excellent ESL courses. Deficiency in English can be a tremendous burden that haunts you later. Make up your mind and try your best to improve your English skills. It is your mindset that carries you forward, not the classes you take.”

Moraine Valley Community College

“When I came to USA, I was so nervous because it was the first time I went somewhere else without my family. However, my feeling became free and comfortable soon because of Moraine Valley. I met my roommates at Moraine Valley. Both of my two roommates are so friendly.. Not only are the students nice, but also the education at Moraine Valley is great.

The Intensive English Program is very effective to help international students improve their language a lot. According to this program, international students can find the level where they are to start their language courses. International students avoid wasting time to learn language. The most important thing is that most of the instructors are awesome. I have also been taking two math classes. And I love the math professors at Moraine very much. They are perfect and I have learned so much from them. They are very patient and explain the questions that I don’t understand. In addition, I love the Tutoring Center. If I have a problem with my homework or my class, I like to go to there to get some help. For living help, I like to go to International Student Affairs Office. Whatever your problem is, the staff are very willing to give you helpful advice.”

“Moraine Valley is for me a place with great diversity of people, from every country with every culture who meet here and study together. When I first arrived in Chicago one of the staff members from the International Student Office picked me up and brought me to my host-family. From the first day I felt really welcome.”

“What I love most about Moraine Valley Community College is the availability of so many opportunities. There are tons of extracurricular to choose from, research opportunities, job opportunities, etc. There’s even a leadership center devoted to helping you to build your current skills or acquire new skills to help you become a better-rounded individual. Having associate nursing classes are a little difficult but the faculty and definitely the administration are so helpful. I strongly believe that I am getting a world-class education for less than half the price in comparison to other colleges around. This college has prepared me to be an independent, leading student. I will transfer to get my bachelor degree, but this college is where it all started, and is helping me to get to where I want to be. Remember, college is what you make of it. if you take advantage of the good sides that the school has to offer then you will have an amazing time! Moraine will offer you the world at your fingertips.”

Skagit Valley College

“As an international student, I was challenged to face another culture, different people, another language, and new experiences. Skagit Valley College welcomed me into this new world with warmth, understanding, and willingness to give me the education and knowledge I needed to succeed and continue my education into a four-year university.

At Skagit Valley College, I enjoyed the small classes along with the wonderful learning atmosphere. Teachers were always willing to help their students master the material. The college offered me a wide variety of job opportunities. As a student, I worked at the Cardinal Bookstore as the textbook manager’s assistant, as a secretary at the Help Desk, and also as a teaching assistant in the Information Technology department. Whenever I needed help with deciding what educational path I should take, there were excellent academic advisers ready to answer any questions.

My hard work and efforts were rewarded with two scholarships that I became a recipient of. SVC introduced me to many people and helped me make friends. It also offered a lot of entertaining and fun activities such as movie nights, talent shows, trips to Seattle, and others.

Skagit Valley College gave me wonderful opportunities that helped me become the person I am today. I will always remember my days at SVC with a smile and appreciation.”

“I have been attending Skagit Valley College (SVC) for two years. When I came to SVC, my English was poor and I was afraid to speak. However, the students and staff are very friendly and patient. They didn’t mind my accent and even corrected my mistakes when I was speaking. When I had study problems, SVC provided different ways to help me such as a tutor who helped me a lot in academic classes. Therefore, I could get used to this foreign environment. SVC is a very open college; there is not any discrimination and people are very nice to you. I was glad that there were no limitations on international students. SVC is a place that always welcomes and takes care of all students, especially international students. There is an international office to help us, so there is no worry to study at SVC. Their passion and welcoming spirit helped me to be more confident, so I joined the SVC Student Government. I was involved in each activity, and I participated in some committees, which really let me understand students’ high independence. At SVC, the decisions of most club activities, the facilities in school, or entertainment were often made by students. I think a student is the person who knows the most about what we need. Also, when I can’t understand what the staff is talking about, they will slow down their speed or repeat it for me. Therefore, I learned a lot and had many wonderful and useful experiences in SVC. I am really lucky that I came to Skagit Valley College. Thank you!”

“I’m Sze Ki Liu (Marissa) an international student from Hong Kong. I came to West Hills College Coalinga one year and a half. The small campus and people here at Coalinga are what I like the most. My goal is to transfer to California State University of Fresno, graduate and one day work as a marketing manager for a corporation in Hong Kong. My student experiences have been great at West Hills College; I’ve had the opportunity of working on campus part time as a residence hall assistant and as a student tutor. When I’m not in class I like to play badminton and hang out with the many friends I have at West Hills College Coalinga.”
